The National Education Conference is held every year at Shahid Rajaee Teacher Training University with an emphasis on one of the specialized themes in the field of education. This year, which is considered the 15th National Education Conference and the second international conference, the two topics of "learning" and "cognitive sciences" have been emphasized. It will be held by Shahid Rajaee Teacher Training University and with the support of the Cognitive Sciences and Technologies Development Headquarters and a number of universities and scientific and research centers of the country on February 12 and 13, 2025 in Tehran, the location of Shahid Rajaee Teacher Training University.
One of the main themes of this conference is the explanation of cognitive sciences in education and learning. Cognitive sciences are one of the interdisciplinary fields that, by examining the functioning of the brain and mind, increase human knowledge of the processes of learning, thinking, memory, attention, and decision-making. These sciences play a key role in education and training, because they help improve teaching and learning methods and develop cognitive skills. Cognitive science helps teachers and educators choose more effective ways to transfer knowledge by providing new insights into how the brain learns. Each person has unique cognitive characteristics. By analyzing these differences, cognitive science allows for personalized education. This helps students progress at their own pace and in their own way. Skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, decision-making, and creativity are among the cognitive skills that play an important role in individual and social success. Cognitive science helps to cultivate these skills from an early age and includes them in curricula. Understanding motivational processes through cognitive science can help design more engaging learning environments. Therefore, holding this conference is necessary and important for several reasons:
1. Enhancing the Quality of Education: Cognitive sciences, as an interdisciplinary field, deepen our understanding of learning processes and ways to improve them. Organizing such a conference provides a platform for sharing new ideas and findings, ultimately leading to better teaching and learning methods.
2. Bridging Theory and Practice: Conferences create opportunities for researchers, educators, and policymakers to interact and transform theoretical knowledge into practical solutions for improving education systems.
3. Introducing Innovative Educational Technologies: With advancements in technology, the use of digital tools in learning has become increasingly significant. A conference can showcase new technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and tools based on cognitive sciences.
4. Fostering Interdisciplinary Approaches: Cognitive sciences integrate knowledge from various disciplines such as psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, and education. Such events encourage knowledge exchange and collaboration among experts in these fields.
5. Addressing Educational Challenges: Many countries face challenges like academic underachievement, unequal access to education, and a lack of student motivation. Conferences provide a space for discussing these issues and presenting innovative solutions.
6. Raising Public Awareness: These events play a crucial role in increasing public awareness about the importance of lifelong learning and the impact of cognitive sciences on daily life.
We hope that this conference, by bringing together experts, researchers, and those interested in education and learning, can, as in previous years, lead to positive and sustainable developments in our country's education system and the development of learning skills.
